National Science Day is celebrated to spread the message about the importance of science in the daily life of the people and how it is contributing to the society at large. This creates an opportunity to display the activities, efforts and achievements in the field of science for human welfare. Participation of society in such celebrations develops scientific temperament in the public and also the sense of responsibility and belongingness towards nation. Issues being faced by the society and their possible technical solutions can be discussed on such platforms and the implementation of new technologies for the development in the field of science can also be done.

Theme of National Science Day Celebration 2021 is declared as “Future of Science, Technology & Innovation: Impacts on Education, Skills and Work”. 

VIT Bhopal University is celebrating National Science Week during 22-28, February 2021 to commemorate the discovery of the ‘Raman Effect’ by the great Indian physicist Sir C V Raman on February 28, 1928.

A Lecture Series, Inter University Quiz Competition (National Level) and e-Exhibition (for School Students) is planned during the celebration week

Submission of Proposal & Video: Till 25th Feb 2021

Eligibility: Junior Group (8th – 10th Standard students), Senior Group (11th & 12th Standard students). A team of 3 students along with a Mentor (elderly person: Teacher/ Tutor/ Senior/ Family Member) can participate in their respective group.

Application Information

  • Registration opens on February 11th and closes on Sunday, February 25th, 2021.  
  • Only online applications will be accepted.
  • It will be an online exhibition; respective presentations will be uploaded on VIT Bhopal’s official YouTube Channel. Online assessment will be done by out expert committee through Zoom.
  • The competition will be held during 26th – 27th Feb 2021.
  • The competition will be open for all the interested students across the country from classes 8th to 12th (Junior Level: 8th – 10th, Senior Level: 11th – 12th).
  • There is no Application Fee for the participation in exhibition. 
  • The registration can be done as per the timeline with complete required information through our website (https://vitbhopal.ac.in/nsw/). Notifications will be posted on our social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram) as well.

Preparing for the E-Exhibition and Submission

  • Do not copy a project that can be found in a book, on a website, or in your classroom.  Make your project your own with the help of your mentor.
  • Decide on a project on the theme “Future of Science, Technology and Innovation: Impacts on Education, Skills and Work”. 
  • Do a little research.  Talk to your family, your friends, your teacher and make one mentor from them.  Find out what people already know about your topic.  You want your project to address something that isn’t already common knowledge. 
  • Create a Project Proposal. Here you may write the question or problem that you are going to work on. Make it as clear and specific as you can. Decide on a title for your project. Write a description. Write down the steps you plan to take to find the answer to your question or the solution to your problem.
  • Submit the proposal.
  • Shoot a video presentation of your project, not more than 5 minutes duration, in aspect ratio 16:9 and upload the .mp4 file. Presentation should be made only by the participants, not the mentors. Mentors may support in logistics. (The information regarding submission and the link/option will be shared after the submission of proposal by the registered participants)
  • Q&A session will be planned and informed to the participants before 25th Feb 2021. 

Exhibition/ Evaluation Rules:

  • Projects will be evaluated by our expert panels. It will be evaluated on following criteria:

Topic, Content, Practical Implementation of Project, Online presentation of Project, Q&A for the depth of project, Outreach. 

  • Video presentations will be uploaded on our YouTube channels with the info of participants. Maximum number of views and likes received on a particular presentation will be taken for Outreach evaluation.  

Awards

The most important prizes are intangible ones. Participants are rewarded with new knowledge gained through personal and group effort. In addition, all participants will receive e-certificates of participation. First, Second and Third prizes will be given in both the levels (Junior, Senior).
