International Webinar on Mathematical Modelling and its applications in Epidemiology
VIT Bhopal has always encouraged the teaching and research community to come forward for exchange of ideas for the betterment of scientific community. In the current Pandemic situation of COVID-19, VIT Bhopal has been very successful in organizing various events. In the current lock down situation, School of Advanced Sciences and languages (SASL) at VIT Bhopal has successfully organized a one day International Webinar on “Mathematical Modelling and its applications in Epidemiology” on 23rd May 2020. The primary objective of this International Webinar was to inform and discuss various models in the field of Epidemiology, so that scientific community shall come forward with its solutions to overcome with this Pandemic crisis. Webinar started with the welcome address of Dr. Harihara Padhy, Dean-SASL, VIT Bhopal. He greeted all the participants and thanked all the keynote speakers and session chairs for their presence in the Webinar. He thanked the management, Vice Chancellor and Registrar, VIT Bhopal for their support and guidance for the conduction of the Webinar. Dean-SASL, told that in the present Pandemic situation, the whole world is looking forward for solutions to combat the Novel Corona Virus from this canopy. He informed in his address about overwhelming response of more than 600 registered participants from more than 250 Institutions across the globe are part of this Webinar. Dr. P. Gunasekaran, Vice Chancellor, VIT Bhopal gave Inaugural Address and greeted all the participants and thanked all the faculty and staff members who worked hard in making the event a successful. He thanked Dr. G. Vishwanathan, Chancellor, Mr. Sankar Vishwanathan, Vice-President and Kadhambari S Vishwanathan, Assistant Vice- President for their continuous support. He briefed the participants about VIT and VIT Bhopal. At the end of his address, Dr. P. Gunasekaran Vice-Chancellor, VIT Bhopal, declared this Webinar “Mathematical Modelling and its applications in Epidemiology” open. The online inauguration function ended with a vote of thanks by Dr.Yogesh Shukla, Faculty,SASL, VIT Bhopal.
Dr. Ganga Ram Phaijoo, Kathmandu University, Nepal, Dr. Zefar Aslan, Istanbul Aydin University, Turkey and Dr. Nitin Sharma, NIT Uttarakhand were three keynote speakers who presented their research work in accordance with the theme of the Webinar. The last session was chaired by Dr. Ramakant Bhardwaj, Faculty, Amity University, Kolkata.
The Webinar ended with Dr. Mamta Agrawal, Convener, delivering the vote of thanks. She thanked VIT management, Vice-Chancellor and Dean-SASL for their help and support for the smooth conduction of the event online. She also thanked all the participants, keynote speakers, her colleagues and session chairs for their presence.
