Career Opportunities in Electrical & Electronics Engineering

Electrical and Electronics engineering is one of the most pursued disciplines in the field of Engineering. Electrical Engineering originated as a core branch. The advent of computerization necessitated understanding and use of circuits in electrical and electronics computerised devices.


Electrical & Electronics Engineering graduates find lucrative career opportunities in electrical power generation, automotive and control industries, mining and allied Industries, instrumentation and software industries and in manufacturing. Employment in public sector enterprises in steel, oil and natural gas sectors, railways, and companies such as BHEL, NTPC, National Instruments, DRDO is the alternate career options. IBM, Honeywell, Intel, Schneider Electric, Siemens, Texas Instruments, General Electric, National Instruments, Microsoft, Yahoo, Ericsson, L&T, Mahindra and Mahindra, Alcatel Lucent, Bosch, Tata Motors, Philips are some potential employers for the graduates of this program.


The program curriculum is designed to impart comprehensive knowledge in the core subjects and their application. Study of devices; control, use, storage, measurement and generation of power and energy are some basic subjects of this program. Various baskets of elective courses offered in every semester to facilitate specialization, wherein, courses from parent stream and outside are offered to choose. Extensive laboratory sessions and project-based learning are introduced in the second year to complement theoretical learning. It is the final year electives, which determine the students’ specialization, and channels their career path. Final year projects are facilitated with industrial collaborations. Periodic guest lectures are arranged by the university where subject experts from the industry address the students and interact with them.


School of Electrical & Electronics engineering established since the inception of VIT Bhopal University; in the year 2017, offers two programs at the undergraduate level, namely B. Tech. Electrical Electronics Engineering (EEE) and Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE). Students can opt for a Minor or Honours degree. The school runs two doctoral programs too, namely Electrical Engineering and Electronics Engineering.
